Role Description
For this vacancy we are recruiting two policy officers. The work a policy officer consists of facilitating and coordinating the work of the Sectoral EFTA Working and Expert Groups related to the incorporation of EU legislation into the EEA Agreement.
We are looking for two highly motivated and competent candidates to take on responsibility for interesting and challenging policy areas within the EEA Agreement.
Among the policy areas which will be covered by our new colleagues are: Health and Safety at Work, Recognition of Professional Qualifications, Free Movement of Persons, Employment and Social Policy, Social Security, Public Health, Intellectual Property Rights, Competition Policy, State Aid, Public Procurement, Company Law and Consumer Affairs. Policy areas will be assigned dependent on candidates’ past experience, interest and qualifications in combination with the overall division of workload and needs of the
division.
Responsibilities include:
Coordinate, facilitate and provide support services to the relevant EFTA Working and Expert Groups including preparing meeting agendas and reports
Monitor the development of EU policy and legislation
Case-handling related to the incorporation of relevant EU acts into the EEA Agreement
Information and presentations to stakeholders and interest groups
Support colleagues within other sectors when needed
Take on responsibility for and contribute to other tasks and common projects
The job entails frequent contact and coordination with national administrations of the EFTA States, the European Commission services, such as the relevant Directorate Generals and the Secretariat-General of the European Commission and the EFTA Missions to the EU in Brussels. Officers may also participate in relevant EU institution meetings including attending and reporting from meetings and hearings in the European
Parliament.
The candidates must be willing to take on other tasks as required, e.g. facilitate the integration of new legislation into the EEA Agreement by ensuring the co-ordination and support services to the relevant EFTA working groups and expert groups.

Role Description
For this vacancy we are recruiting two temporary officers. One policy temporary officer and one legal temporary officer.
The temporary policy officer position in IMD entails on one hand taking on responsibility for certain files within policy sectors and working independently on them, and on the other helping out across the division as needed. The position requires a high degree of cooperation with other experts. The Temporary Officer may therefore be asked to take on assignments within all the policy fields covered by the EEA Agreement.
The main tasks and responsibilities of the post are i.e.:
Preparation and facilitation of meetings of EFTA expert and working groups
Monitor policy developments of the EU and their relevance and impact for the EEA EFTA States
Day-to-day case handling as regards the incorporation of EU acts into the EEA Agreement
Draft memos and notes and provide input to reports and briefings for working groups and the Subcommittees
Liaise with EFTA Member States and EU experts on specific files
Coordinate and contribute to drafting EEA EFTA comments and position papers
Give briefings both internally and to external stakeholders on developments of the EEA and the EU.
The temporary legal officer position in IMD entails cooperating closely with and providing legal advice to colleagues and the EEA EFTA States as well as helping our Legal Officers as needed. The Temporary Legal Officer may therefore be asked to take on legal assignments related to all the policy fields covered by the EEA Agreement.

Role Description
We are looking for a highly motivated and qualified candidate to take on the challenging post as legal officer in IMD. The successful candidate will play an important role in IMD, cooperating closely with and providing legal advice to colleagues and to the EEA EFTA States.
The main tasks of the successful applicant will be to:
Provide legal services and advice to the EEA EFTA States and colleagues in IMD within a wide selection of policy areas covered by the EEA Agreement
Draft Decisions of the EEA Joint Committee to incorporate EEA-relevant EU legal acts into the EEA Agreement,
Draft legal and explanatory notes related to the management of the EEA Agreement,
Cooperate closely with the IMD policy officers, administrative coordinators, Registrar and other members of EFTA’s EEA legal team,
Cooperate closely with Ministries in the EEA EFTA States, the EFTA Missions to the EU and EU counterparts regarding the incorporation of EU legislation into the EEA Agreement, and
Contribute to EFTA’s outreach activities, sharing knowledge and building competence on how the EEA Agreement functions and its legal implications, by giving trainings and presentations in meetings and seminars.
The successful candidate should be flexible and willing to take on other tasks, including non-legal and administrative tasks, as required, and depending on the workload and needs within IMD.

Take on responsibility for and contribute to other tasks and common projects
